Don't Put THAT on the Moving Van

Items your movers will not move
When you are getting ready to move, you probably have a pretty good idea of the things you'll be taking to your new residence. After all, you know everything you own and what you won’t be able to live without. However there’s some materials that your movers won't move. Ask your moving company in El Paso for their complete list of non-transportable materials and read on for a few examples.
1. Flammable or hazardous materials
Combustible and hazardous items create a high fire hazard, and professional moving companies need to steer clear of any possibility for fire. Plus, there are strict laws regarding the transport of these things, and the majority of moving companies merely don't want to deal with the hassle.
If you possess any of these things which you wish to move, you will need to plan to move them without the movers’ help. Sorry!
- Aerosol spray cans
- Cleaners or Bleach
- Fireworks
- Gas or Kerosene
- Matches
- Nail polish remover
- Paint
- Paint thinner
- Pesticides
- Propane tanks
- Fertilizer
2. Perishable food products
Professional moving companies in El Paso usually cannot move food products that will spoil, such as dairy products, vegetables and fruits, meat, etc. This is due to it's a food safety matter. These things need to be kept at a certain temperature to keep them from going bad and possibly making people sick. When food isn’t kept at the correct temperature during transit, it very well could spoil and will be dangerous to eat.
Additionally, food products may attract pests. In the event food is left out in the open, it can attract insects or other critters that could get into the moving truck and plague the rest of the belongings. It is lots easier (not to mention less messy) to just leave the perishable food behind and get new after you get to your new home in the event you cannot carry it on your own.
3. Potted plants
Regarding moving plants, laws are different from state to state concerning what varieties of living plants can pass over lines. When you verify that your plants are legal to transport, you’ll need to plan on moving them yourself. And don’t forget, plants can be problematic to move because they must have light and water the entire trip, therefore you might wish to think about giving them away before your move.
4. Alcohol and wine
Your moving company likely won’t help you to move that crate of wine or flask of whiskey you've been preserving for a special occasion. This can be attributed to several significant risks involved in transporting alcohol. Liquor laws are different between states, and various states have rules on the quantity of alcohol which can be brought into the state. In addition, alcohol is flammable, so if not transported correctly, it could be hazardous to all involved. If you own a particularly costly wine collection, look into a wine relocation company to move your collection safely (and legally) for you.
In Conclusion
Most professional movers in El Paso have very rigid policies on what things they can and cannot move. There are some belongings that they just will not transport. These things could be dangerous, perishable, or even illegal to transport. Ahead of organizing your move, you need to cautiously think through what your movers can move and what they won't.
