Protect your TV During your Move

couple moving tvSomething awful that can happen while moving is accidentally shattering the TV. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know how horrible it is to to break your TV during the move. We want to make your move as stressless as it can be here in El Paso, whether you’re moving locally or long distance. We know how hard it can be, so we decided to make a list of tips and tricks to use when you are getting your TV ready for the move.

First and foremost, you need a box that’s appropriate for moving your television. A good a good thing to use is the TV’s original packaging – if you still have it. If you threw it out, you can get a package made specially for moving flat-screen TVs from either a hardware store or a moving supply company. You should find a box that is just somewhat bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to shift around when it’s inside. Transporting expensive and delicate items requires packaging, preparation, and moving training and knowledge, not only large trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group we have a team of experienced movers who can help you with your move, however they can, even securing your TV and making sure it’s packaged up correctly.

Before you start packing it up, a great thing to do is take a photo behind the TV with all the cords still plugged in. This will make your life much easier when you have to reinstall your TV. After taking a picture, start getting your TV ready to pack up. First take out the main power cord, then take out all the other connecting wires and cords. Get all of it in a bag together and keep it with the TV. There might be a base you need to remove from the television so you can fit it in the box. When that’s the case, make sure to put all the parts inside a little bag and keep it in the box with the TV’s base so everything stays together.

After this is done, you can get the TV all packed up. Whether your new home is far from El Paso or you are simply moving locally, it’s necessary to make sure your television is fully covered. Use foam pieces to cover the TV screen, you will find some in your kit if you decided to buy one, or in the box that your TV came in originally if you are using that. The foam doesn’t only keep the screen protected, but it also keeps your television from moving around in the box during the move. Secure the foam pieces using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the whole TV and stop it from becoming scratched.

When your TV is all covered up it’s time to get it in the box! Keep your TV upright as you do this, and make sure it’s secure by filling in holes with blankets or even clothes. This keeps the TV from shifting around in its box.

loading boxes into truck The last step is to get the TV in the truck, or let the movers do it for you. Make sure you keep the box upright and put it next to or between other smooth, solid furniture, such as your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Remember to have your cables with the TV, either in a bag taped to the side or in another box.

Once that’s done you’re all ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in El Paso to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.

Best. Move. Ever!
Very pleased with the overall respect and care the men gave to my possessions. Even mailing me very quickly the only thing lost in transit. Would recommend to anyone needing a long distant move.
